Unbroken Chain of Weirdness

Thanks, Matt. Seems I’ve been “tagged” and now I have to tell six weird things about myself as well as “tag” six friends—that is to say, six people who will have been my friends up until I impose this sort of “chain letter of weirdness” on them.
So, six weird things about me:
- The first weird thing about me is that I’m not all that eager to reveal weird personal things on in public. That is, as far as I’m concerned, a normal thing about me, but not so in the blogosphere. From that, you might conclude that the five weird things to follow are not the very weirdest things about me.
- Okay, an actual weird thing: I detest eating dinner with a dessert fork or, worse yet, dessert with a dinner fork. Yes there is a difference, and for some reason I’m tuned into it keenly. I will get up and change forks during a meal, even rooting around the dishwasher, or washing a dirty fork of the desired sort.
- Here’s a new weird thing about me: I am now a bit worried that some day soon I will be served a slice of pie with a dinner fork or a hunk of steak with a dessert fork and my hostess will realize it only at the last moment, and having read this blog will be embarrassed, and I will be even more embarrassed for having discountenanced her over such a trifle.
- I won’t post an entry on this blog without an accompanying image. This is one of the reasons I don’t post more often. I’ve got a lot of archived images, high-end graphics software, and some design skill, so there you go—I feel compelled to put these things to use. I don’t have an image picked out for this post yet, and it won’t be published until I do.
- The subject of images accompanying blog posts, in particular what image to use on this one, reminds me of another weird thing about me: I take quite a few pictures of myself. I got good at this in Europe, when I was at the University of Nottingham junior year of college (1986-7). I traveled around the continent quite a bit on my own and wanted to be in at least a few of the pictures I took. The photo above was taken on a mountainbiking excursion through Wyoming State Park in northeastern Pennsylvania this past November.
- Which subject—bicycling—provides a sixth and final weird thing about me: I own bicycle socks. That’s right, socks specific to bicycling. Actually, I have some five or six pairs thereof, including a wool pair of use only during cool, but not cold, days of spring or fall. They go with the four different pairs of bicycle shoes that I own (for road, off-road, biking-and-walking, and cold weather) on my three bikes (road, mountain, singlespeed commuter).
Is it a seventh weird thing about me that I hope Karl, John, James, Pete, John and Erin won’t be too peeved I’ve tagged them?
Thank you Eric. The fork thing is certainly on the weird side. But the bicycle socks are evidence of just plain nerdiness, i’m afraid. (not helped by the photo ;o) ).
And thanks for tagging me. I have duly added my list of six weirdnesseses onto my blog. http://www.dailybrouhaha.blogspot.com
My only difficulty now is finding 6 people to tag myself.

Reading this post gave me a few minutes of amusement, so thanks, Eric! =)
Funny how we can be focused on the specifics of dinnerware, heehee. But I didn’t know till today that there were such things as biking socks.
Happy New Year!
